Tag rugby teams line up for Limerick festival

MORE than 120 tag rugby teams and 20 hockey teams have already signed up for Limerick’s Pig ‘n’ Porter festival.

It place at Old Crescent RFC July 16 to 18 and attracts thousands of visitors to the midwest.

For the first time the festival will include a hockey blitz, an underage tag rugby expo and the inaugural Pig on a Spit cooking competition.

The Pig ‘n’ Porter is supported by Shannon Development and run in association with the Irish Tag Rugby Association (ITRAA).

More than 70% of teams registered so far are from outside the Limerick area.

Padraic O’Connor, organiser, said: “We want local people to enjoy a great weekend and we’re particularly encouraging families to attend our Sunday Family Fun Day when there will be an underage tag rugby blitz, bouncy castles, a play area and lots of free food with an All Ireland Pig on the Spit competition.”
