THE controversial new €200 parking levy which is designed to reduce congestion will do more harm than good, the AA has warned.

The motoring organisation said the tax will encourage motorists who pay the fee to get full use of their parking space, thereby incentivising them to drive in to cities more often.

The comments came last night as the AA released survey results which show that nearly 68% of motorists surveyed are opposed to the levy, with just over 25% in favour.
