Jewish TD denounces killing of flotilla activists as ‘inexcusable’

AS an Irish aid ship sailed closer to Gaza last night, Ireland’s only Jewish TD called on Israel to lift its blockade of the territory while declaring that the recent attack on aid vessels was “indefensible”.

Alan Shatter TD said the Israeli storming and killing of nine activists on the Gaza-bound flotilla was “inexcusable”. He said the blockade of Gaza was entirely wrong.

But all eyes were on the Irish- owned Rachel Corrie ship last night as it neared Gaza’s shores amid threats by Israel that it would maintain its blockade of the Palestinian enclave.
