Quinn welcomes ‘end of monopoly’

QUINN HEALTHCARE has welcomed the Government’s decision to “resolve the dominant and monopolistic position of the VHI”, saying the move would only strengthen competition in the Irish market.

The company said it would take some time to digest the details of the Government’s announcement, but it was the approach that would ensure greater transparency, equity and competition in the market.

“From what we have heard today, the minister’s intention is to resolve the dominant and monopolistic position of the VHI, and this can only strengthen competition in the Irish market,” said Quinn Healthcare general manager Donal Clancy. “We welcome the minister’s assurances that there will be meaningful consultation with all stakeholders in the industry, and we will be working for our customers to deliver a sustainable, fair and healthy market.”
