Flocks of Girlies set to gather
Fans have gorged on the leaked shots from the set, swooned at Sarah Jessica Parker’s vertiginous, plant-style Philip Treacy hat at the London premiere, and devoured reviews from across the Atlantic.
However, they get to make up their own minds as the Sex and the City roadshow hits cinemas nationwide tomorrow.
As with the first Sex and the City movie, it looks like there will be gangs of girlfriends donning frocks and heels (and grabbing their nearest gay male friend) before heading for cocktails and the show – recession or not.
In Galway, the city’s uber cool G Hotel will host a Sex and the City evening from 4pm. Guests will be welcomed with cupcakes and cocktails and an escorted trip to the Eye cinema. During the movie, there will be free popcorn and Prosecco. Tickets cost €75.
Special charity screenings are taking place in Dublin and Cork tomorrow night at the Savoy and Mahon Point Cinemas, in aid of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI).
The Dublin screening kicks off at the Gresham Hotel on O’Connell Street at 6.45pm and the Cork event, already sold out, will see fans gathering at the Imperial Hotel at 6.30pm. It will be canapés and cosmopolitans all around before the ladies will be escorted to the screenings.
According to the NBCRI, “women are being encouraged to dress in pink or as one of their favourite characters from the movie”. There are prizes for the best dressed ladies in each city. NBCRI will host an exclusive after party at Krystle Nightclub for all those attending the Dublin premiere and in Cork, the party will be continuing at the South Mall’s Imperial Hotel.
