A VICTORY might not kick-start the Celtic Tiger again, but singer Niamh Kavanagh is hoping a strong showing by Ireland in this week’s Eurovision Song Contest will give the nation a welcome boost.

Ireland’s quest for fresh success in the competition begins in Oslo tomorrow night when Kavanagh will sing in the second qualifying round for a place in Saturday’s final.

The 42-year-old Dubliner is hoping to bring glory back to Ireland’s proud Eurovision record by repeating her famous victory in Millstreet in 1993 with In Your Eyes.
