TDs have been asked to sacrifice a week’s holidays by coming to work for two days in the week following the June bank holiday as the Government plays catch-up with a backlog of legislation.

The Dáil was scheduled to adjourn for the second week of June, even though it falls shortly before the 10-week long break for the summer recess.

But the new Government chief whip, John Curran, has put an end to the free holiday and asked deputies to come in on the Wednesday and Thursday following the bank holiday weekend.
