NURSES reported sharp rises in the number of patients on trolleys in three of the country’s largest acute hospitals yesterday.

None of the hospitals were able to pinpoint the reason for the sudden increase.

According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) there were 50 patients on trolleys in Tallaght Hospital, Dublin, and 44 in Cork University Hospital (CUH).
