Children’s toys top the EU list of complaints on safety

COMPLAINTS about children’s toys, as well as cars, clothes and electrical items top the list in relation to products sold in Europe, the EU’s annual report on consumer goods found.

Of the close to 2,000 complaints received by the EU’s online rapid alert system, 20 came from Ireland which accounted for just 1% of all alerts placed on the RAPEX system.

Most notifications came from Spain followed by Germany, Greece and Bulgaria. More than half the goods complained of came from China while 20% were made in the EU.
