Price tags on homes slashed

HUNDREDS of thousands of euro have been wiped off two prominent properties in Co Limerick.

Price tags on homes slashed

The plunge in the housing market is starkly evident near Murroe where two houses – one with a cinema and the other with a gymnasium – had their asking prices severely reduced.

The price tag on one of the houses dropped from €680,000 to €499,000 and the other fell from €610,000 to €500,000.

Auctioneer Gillian Dunne of Property Team Cusack Dunne said: “You are getting a lot of house in each of these properties.”

Built in 2006, the detached house Sisceal covers a vast 4,000sq ft, which includes an all embracing attic conversion which features a gymnasium.

Ms Dunne said the price has been reduced, in the past year, by more than €180,000.

The property includes a block built detached garage.

She said: “If you were to build it, and by the time you had the site paid for, it would cost you about €500,000.”

The other property at Glencoe, about two miles from Murroe, stands on a three-quarters of an acre site. It has a cinema with a nine-ft high definition screen.

The house was built four years ago and two of the four large bedrooms are en suite.
