STUDENTS at University College Cork (UCC) may organise their own graduation ceremonies this year to avoid a controversial new graduation charge, it emerged yesterday.

And the incoming president of UCC’s Students’ Union vowed last night to attend his graduation ceremony without paying the €65 charge the college plans to introduce this year.

“I have every intention of attending the ceremony without paying the charge, and if they want to physically remove me on the day so be it,” Keith O’Brien said.
