Ceremony for Titanic victim

A NATIVE of Cobh, Co Cork, who perished in the sinking of the Titanic is to be remembered at a special wreath-laying ceremony later this month.

On Sunday, April 11, 98 years after the Titanic called to Cobh on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York all of those who died when the ship sank will be remembered at a commemoration to be held in her last port of call.

For the first time ever this year will be the remembrance of Cobh man, Able Seaman Lionel Leonard. It is hoped that Pat Toms, of Bangor, Co Down, will lay a wreath at the memorial in Cobh in honour of his grandfather.
