GROWING discontent among Fianna Fáil backbenchers is because of sour grapes by individuals who did not get promoted in last week’s reshuffle, according to Green Party leader John Gormley.

The Environment Minister said there is always disappointment following a Cabinet reshuffle and “people who sought preferment and didn’t get it will give expression to that.”

At the Green Party convention in Waterford over the weekend, delegates gave standing ovations for their two new junior ministers – Mary White and Ciaran Cuffe – who were promoted at the expense of many long-standing Fianna Fáil TDs.
