They secured an extra junior ministry in the reshuffle, meaning that four of the six Green TDs now hold Government positions – an astonishing number for such a small party.

In addition, one of their junior ministers, Mary White, has been given special responsibility for equality and human rights, meaning that the Greens have succeeded in wresting that portfolio from a Fianna Fáil minister they distrusted, Dermot Ahern.
