Survivors seek national inquiry

THE drip-feeding of disclosures needs to stop and a national inquiry launched, campaigners said last night after another Irish bishop apologised for failing to deal properly with abuse allegations against a priest.

In the latest in a series of revelations about senior clergy inadequately handling complaints, Bishop of Waterford and Lismore Dr William Lee admitted he waited two years before telling gardaí about claims from two people in the mid-1990s.

Dr Lee said he sincerely regretted his initial failure to remove the priest from all ministry and not informing other clerics the claims had been made.
