A POLITICIAN has promised to investigate the case of a man who claims he has no option but to live in a shack on an tiny isolated estuary island.

Eddie Leahy, 57, and his son, Andrew, 20, have been living in the home-made box near Fota in Co Cork for about five months. They have no electricity, running water or sanitary facilities.

They endured one of the worst winters on record with nothing but a stove to keep them warm.
