Students come up with sweet idea to raise funds
All kinds of chocolate goodies will be available in the central concourse between 5pm and 7pm.
Third-year students Lorraine McCarthy from Dungarvan in Co Waterford and Gavin Murphy from Clonakilty in West Cork came up with the idea to raise money for the college counselling service.
Lorraine said: “We are asking students to come with all kinds of chocolate so we can sell them to raise funds. Later in the students bar, a variety of chocolate drinks will be sold.”
They decided to raise money for the counselling service due to the work load it has to deal with.
Lorraine said: “There is a waiting list at present of students seeking counselling. Usually when a student went to seek counselling it was available immediately, but now students have to wait. The service deals with all kinds of counselling from bereavement counselling to helping students cope with stress.”
