Man charged with Limerick murder
John Coughlan, single and unemployed, with an address at 54 Pineview Gardens, Moyross, was remanded in custody to the same court next Thursday.
Detective Sergeant Derek Clancy, of Mayorstone Garda Station, gave evidence of arresting the accused at Henry Street Garda Station last night at 7.42pm. When he put the charge to the accused, Coughlan replied: “I’ll remain silent.”
Detective Inspector Jim Ryan applied to Judge Tom O’Donnell for a remand in custody of the accused to the same court on March 4 and Sarah Ryan, solicitor, said there was no objection to this application. She had no objection to having the remand hearing dealt with by video link to Limerick Prison, where Coughlan was brought last night. He is charged with the murder of Daniel Treacy on February 22 at the Topaz Garage, Caherdavin, Ennis Road.
