Man charged with having gun at hotel

A MAN was remanded at Limerick District Court yesterday in connection with the discovery of an Uzi submachine gun at a city hotel.

Fintan Lynch, aged 30, of no fixed address and originally from O’Malley Park, Southill, is charged with having the gun at the Travelodge Hotel, Coonagh Roundabout on February 10 in suspicious circumstances.

Garda Brian O’Connor of Roxboro Road station gave evidence of arresting Lynch and charging him.

At the request of Insp Seamus Ruane, Lynch was remanded in custody by Judge Eamonn O’Brien to the same court next Tuesday.

Darach McCarthy, solicitor, said he was reserving his position on bail and legal aid.
