3,000 Irish people seek visas to relocate Down Under

MORE than 3,000 Irish people have contacted visa companies seeking a move Down Under in the past year, with embassies and consulates for other countries also targeted in a new wave of outward migration.

Kildare-based Australian Visa Specialists said they had been contacted by more than 3,000 Irish people looking to move, while figures from the New Zealand immigration authority showed that, in the financial year to the end of last June, 4,022 Irish people had received work visas – the highest figure ever for Irish citizens seeking to work in that country.

Latest figures show that since June, 2,419 people have received work visas for New Zealand.
