Man charged over discovery of cannabis factory

GARDAÍ arrested and charged a man in connection with the discovery of a substantial cannabis-growing factory in Cork city.

Detective Garda Paul Ahern arrested Mark Downey, aged 33, of 3 The Lawn, Gleann Na Rí, Tower, Blarney, Co Cork, and charged him yesterday.

One of the charges accuses Downey of cultivating plants of the genus cannabis at Unit 2, Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Cork, on January 25, 2009.
