Man impaled in leap from fire named

THE man who died after being impaled on railings when he jumped from the fourth floor of a fire-engulfed apartment building in Limerick has been named as Brian Power Close.

The single 31-year-old from Limerick was believed to have been living on his own in the flat at Upper Cecil Street in the city centre.

A young woman was rescued by firefighters from a first floor ledge.
