FG €18bn plan for green energy

MORE than 100,000 jobs could be created via a huge €18bn investment in green energy and broadband, Fine Gael last night claimed.

Party leader Enda Kenny said the four-year plan would reposition the economy for the 21st century by fully overhauling the commercial semi-state sector.

“This plan will invest €18bn in making our broadband network among the top five in the world, in turning us into a net energy exporter by 2030, with 50% of our energy coming from renewable sources by 2020, and in overhauling our water networks and infrastructure so that we have a system that is fit for the 21st century, not the 19th,” said Mr Kenny.
