No end to the suffering caused by horrific abuse

THE damage caused by the long-term, systematic sexual abuse of children did not simply disappear when the horrific assaults ended.

In many cases the attacks continue to draw a shadow over the lives of victims, decades later.

The commission found almost all involved still have difficulty becoming intimate with anyone else, blame themselves for the abuse and, in some cases, became so overwhelmed they took their lives.
