Arrests bring to 19 number quizzed on fatal assault

Mr Hannon, aged 19, was bludgeoned to death near his home in Southill while returning from a house party.

A woman, 32, and two males, 22 and 17, were arrested at around 8am yesterday and are being held at Roxboro Road and Henry Street garda stations.

Mr Hannon had returned to Limerick a few weeks prior to his death after working in England where his aunt had a pub.

On the night of his murder, he had left home to join a number of others drinking cans at a bonfire about 45m from his home at Galtee Close, Southill.

He is then understood to have gone on to a house party in the estate and gardaí believe he was assaulted after leaving the party.

He died from massive wounds to the back of the head.

Mr Hannon was said to be a quiet young man who had never been in trouble.

He had a young child with his former partner.

Up to yesterday, 16 people had been arrested and question in connection with the murder.

Gardaí have described it as a complex investigation.
