Two officers injured in prison stabbing

TWO prison officers and a prisoner in Mountjoy Prison received stab wounds yesterday after they were attacked by an inmate.

Commenting on the incident prison officers said it was lucky no one was killed in the attack.

Responding to suggestions by Prison Service management that the injuries were not serious the Prison Officers’ Association (POA) accused the Prison Service of “playing down” the seriousness of the attack.
