Imagine creates 200 jobs for broadband rollout
Imagine says its 4G WiMax network will provide high-speed internet and phone access both at home and on the move for half the price of existing services. It claims the speed of the connection will be eight times faster than the existing technology, for example allowing customers to download a movie in three minutes.
The company says its service is already in operation, and phase one of a roll-out covering 250,000 in 26 areas including Dublin, Wexford, Sligo, Tralee and Athlone will be completed by mid-November 2009. After that it intends to role out the technology in 15 locations per month and to have 90% of the country covered by 2012.
