Shock as star found dead on sofa

BOYZONE singer Stephen Gately’s death was a “tragic accident” and he did not die from drugs or foul play, according to his family.

The 33-year-old pop star and actor was found dead on a sofa at his Majorca home at 1.45pm on Saturday where he was on holiday with his husband, Andrew Cowles. Police said there were “no signs of suspicious circumstances” and family friend, solicitor Gerald Kean ruled out foul play or suicide.

Stephen is thought to have fallen asleep on the sofa in a pair of pyjamas after returning to the flat in the early hours of Saturday morning following a night out with his husband and a Bulgarian man who police are trying to track down.
