Report: Green leaders do not have full grassroots support

GREEN Party leaders do not enjoy the full endorsement of grassroots members to vote for NAMA, according to an internal party report.

It said an assessment that suggested the party reached a banking-strategy consensus when members gathered last Saturday was “too hasty”. The report, on last weekend’s complicated “preferendum” process, was circulated last night and showed the current NAMA bill was not the preferred option.

The preferendum, which was to gauge opinion rather than decide on an outright policy platform, showed the most popular option was an all-in approach.
