ULSTER Bank chiefs were left red-faced yesterday after it emerged the bank had unwittingly promoted an event in which students were offered free entry to a strip show to be held in a bar in Tallaght.

Ulster Bank distances itself from ITT strip show event

The bank was forced to make a statement after a number of callers to RTÉ’s Liveline programme claimed that, as part of its support for Fresher’s week in the Institute of Technology Tallaght (ITT), it was offering new students who opened a student account with them a €100 free deposit into their account and a free ticket to a exotic dancing event in the Metro Bar near the college campus on September 24. One caller to the show said her son was told by a representative of the student council how to gain tickets to the event.

“They were told, if they went to the Metro Bar which is outside the campus in Tallaght, Ulster Bank representatives were there waiting and they could open up an Ulster Bank student account and they would get €100 credited into their account and they would also get a free ticket for a stripper,” she said.
