LIT opens €9m flagship art and design college

LIMERICK Institute of Technology’s new €9 million school of art and design points to a new era of creativity for its 600 students, the Minister for Education Batt O’Keeffe said yesterday.

The new college has been developed at the old Good Shepherd convent in Clare Street.

Mr O’Keeffe, who opened the new building, said: “The school is now the largest of its kind outside Dublin. Its fashion students have consistently competed for national awards,” he said, “and this school has produced some of this country’s best-known fashion designers.”
