THE Government has published proposals to crack down on grocery retailers who demand secret payments from suppliers in order to promote their goods.

Suppliers have been complaining bitterly about the hidden fees that retailers demand to place their products on shelves or allocate them extra space.

Retailers, for their part, have argued that the cost of sourcing grocery products is much higher here than in Britain and elsewhere.
