BREDA Heary only found out last week that her baby’s organs had been retained by the Rotunda Hospital without her knowledge.

Fresh organ case: ‘I cannot believe we have to deal with this again’

In December 2003 Breda had a stillborn baby, Molly, in St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny and agreed to have an autopsy carried out in the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin.

Breda said the Rotunda Hospital wrote to her in 2004 to say that organs retained for further tests had been buried in consecrated ground, as requested by the family.
