THE nuts and bolts of Ireland’s new bad asset agency will be finalised in the Dáil in September when TDs and ministers return after their summer break.

Debate over the eagerly awaited legislation will run alongside checks with the European Commission over the extent of the state aid being handed to banks.

Legal challenges by banks or others at home could be limited, however, under the proposed NAMA legislation, thereby speeding up the buying of assets.
