Mayor’s get-well wish for McCourt

THE Mayor of Limerick Cllr Kevin Kiely has sent a get-well message to Limerick-born, Frank McCourt, whose international blockbuster Angela’s Ashes won him a Pulitzer and who is seriously ill with skin cancer.

Reports from New York, where he lives with his wife Ellen, say Mr McCourt, 78 is gravely ill with skin cancer melanoma and may have only weeks to live.

Following treatment at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York, he recently returned to his home in Connecticut.
