School building progress to be detailed online

SCHOOLS, teachers and parents will be able to check the standing of their school in the Department of Education’s building programme at any time as the priority list of all projects will be published its website from today.

The Irish Examiner has learned that Education Minister Batt O’Keeffe has finalised the plans, which he first announced in the Dáil eight months ago, to show every school building application and its priority rating.

Each of around 1,500 schools whose projects are currently being considered by the department is placed in a rating band from one to five, with Band 1 projects rating the highest priority in terms of progression through the various stages.
