STEREOTYPING of household chores still exists, with more girls than boys helping out in the home, a major study on the lives of Irish children reveals.

It shows that 83% of girls, compared with 69% of boys, wash the dishes or empty the dishwasher.

There is also a big difference in helping with cooking, at 80% and 67%, respectively. And more girls than boys still do the vacuuming and cleaning.
