THE parents of missing Irish aid worker Sharon Commins are to meet the Sudanese Ambassador to Ireland tomorrow after he said the net was tightening on the gang who kidnapped her.

His excellency Omer Siddig spoke before the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs yesterday and said he hoped that 32-year-old Sharon and her Ugandan GOAL colleague Hilda Kawuki, 42, would be released “in the coming hours or in the coming days”.

But the ambassador admitted that, contrary to earlier reports, the exact area where the women are believed to be held has not been pinpointed, nor has a ransom request been received.
