Taskforce advises two councils to merge

THE taskforce appointed by the Government in the wake of the Dell pullout announcement in Limerick has recommended that Limerick city and county councils should be amalgamated into one greater Limerick authority.

The taskforce is chaired by former Kerry Group chief executive Denis Brosnan.

Mr Brosnan has said that he expects unemployment in the mid-west to hit the 20% mark by April next year.
