TDs paid more than in other parliaments

IRELAND spends more supporting its national politicians than comparative parliaments, yet six members of the Oireachtas are not satisfied with their salary.

TDs paid more than in other parliaments

In 2008, an average of €364,602 was spent on each deputy and senator to pay them and their support staff.

This, from an overall budget of €123 million, was more than twice that of Finland and higher than five similar parliaments surveyed by the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission.
