BANK of Ireland has created new senior risk management roles as part of a series of changes to its senior management team, which also sees it combine previously separate businesses.

Des Crowley is to become chief executive of a new division as head of retail in Ireland and Britain, which will combine the previously separate Irish and British operations.

Ronan Murphy has been appointed to the new role of chief governance risk officer, a position that includes responsibility for managing risk at the bank. He will also carry responsibility for internal audit, legal services and secretariat.

Vincent Mulvey will join the group executive in another position as chief credit and market risk officer, while Liam McLoughlin will become head of group manufacturing, succeeding Tony Wyatt, who will be leaving the group.
