CHILDCARE services should be integrated into plans for residential developments, according to the Labour Party, which said its councillors would also promote more playgrounds, family festivals and night-time facilities for teenagers if elected next month.

The party has also called on the Government to give more details of plans for a free pre-school year for all three-year-olds as was promised in the budget. It is due to come into operation next January.

During the launch of the party’s Manifesto for Children, Labour leader Eamon Gilmore criticised Enda Kenny for supporting outgoing MEP Avril Doyle in her attack on candidate Nessa Childers.
