Cork roads funding slashed by further €400,000

FUNDING for Cork’s roads, which was cut by almost €2.5 million last month, has been slashed by a further €400,000.

Fine Gael Cllr John Buttimer said the cuts will force city officials to tear up a list of road improvement projects agreed last December based on projected funding supplied by central government.

Councillors across the city’s six electoral wards agreed at the time to essential roads resurfacing, footpath renewal, improvements in public realm and enhanced public lighting.
