RTÉ says it stands over integrity of newsroom

RTÉ said it can stand over the political integrity of its newsroom after its former economics editor George Lee revealed he will contest a by-election for Fine Gael.

The station said: “We can say 100% there was never any question of bias in George Lee’s coverage of the economic situation. There were no signs of any bias and we would stand over that strongly.”

Mr Lee stepped down as economics editor yesterday and accepted he would never again be able to step in front of the camera, even if his election bid fails.
