Corkman jailed for threatening garda

Garda Deirdre Murphy testified at Cork District Court that, in the early hours of Sunday, she and a male colleague stopped Keith O’Connor, 23, to conduct a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act. After he refused to co-operate at Great William O’Brien Street, Cork, Garda Murphy picked up a pair of socks that O’Connor, of 134 St Coleman’s Road, Farranree, Cork, threw out of his pocket.

Asked what he was doing with the socks, O’Connor answered by referring to the general area where Garda Murphy lives. O’Connor then turned to Garda Murphy’s colleague and said: “Keep it in mind, Deirdre knows what I’m talking about.”
