FF defections put pressure on election preparations

A GROWING number of defections by Fianna Fáil politicians has put further pressure on the party’s preparations for June’s local elections.

The party believes it can contain the losses, but grassroots unrest has taken its toll with less than 10 weeks to go.

Local cumann workers and sitting councillors have been angry at headquarter’s insistence on picking candidates by interview rather than by local conventions.
