Delay in crackdown on VRT evasion

A CRACKDOWN on owners of foreign-registered cars who fail to pay vehicle registration tax will not take place until next year.

New legislation relating to temporary registration provisions will not be in place, despite amendments to the Finance Act 2008.

The provisions will oblige car owners planning to keep foreign registered cars in this country for more than 12 months, to notify the licensing authorities.
