A CITY has pledged to improve its accounting system which tracks millions of euro in development charges after “shortcomings” were exposed in an audit.

A change in procurement procedures was also called for by the council’s auditor.

Cork city manager Joe Gavin said both areas are now being reviewed following the statutory audit report on the council’s books for 2007.
