FG claims raid proves Government misjudgment

THE Garda raid on Anglo Irish Bank yet again calls into question the Government’s judgement in nationalising the bank, Fine Gael has said.

The party’s justice spokesman, Charlie Flanagan, said it was extremely worrying that the taxpayer is liable for a bank that is subject to such a major investigation. “This is an unprecedented turn of events,” he said.

The raid raised further questions about the wisdom of taking the bank into State ownership, he added.
