Three US multinationals announce 300 job cuts

MEDICAL devices firm Boston Scientific is closing its 120-job plant in Co Donegal next year and computer-maker IBM has sought a similar number of redundancies in Dublin, while Galway-based electronics firm Celestica is looking for 80 voluntary redundancies.

Celestica staff were told the grim news at an emergency meeting in the Galway Parkmore plant last night.

The Canadian electronics manufacturing company had been manufacturing ink jet cartridges for Hewlett Packard.
